Te Rōpū Kāhui (“the group of many”) maps every organisation on the New Zealand Charities Register that was registered when the data was captured. It is built entirely from the official Charities Services Open Data OData service, published by Charities Services — Ngā Ratonga Kaupapa Atawhai, Department of Internal Affairs — Te Tari Taiwhenua.
Data © Crown / Charities Services, licensed CC BY 3.0 NZ. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors; locality geocoding via OSM Nominatim. Basemap © CARTO & OSM.
Register data is self-reported by charities through their annual returns and is not independently verified. Under the register’s terms, published charity email addresses must not be harvested — this explorer never displays them.
Charities are geocoded to their suburb or town (never their street address) and drawn with a small deterministic offset so neighbouring organisations don’t overlap exactly. Location is indicative of community, not premises.
